The original OMEGA Railmaster of 1957 was a simple, practical watch designed for anyone who worked close to electrical fields, but while the original Railmasters boasted magnetic resistance of up to 1000 gauss, this watch can handle 15,000 gauss.
The watch is driven by the OMEGA Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8806. Modern Omega movements are some of the best in the market. The accuracy and rigorous testing that their Master Chronometer movements are held accountable to is impressive and the Cal 8806 is no exception.
The 40 mm symmetrical case is made from understated matt stainless steel with a Hippocampus on the metal caseback. The brushed Denim blue face has recessed hour-markers which are all filled with “vintage” Super-LumiNova. There is also a transferred beige “Railmaster” indication which delivers a the final touch to this vintage inspired watch.
Omega excel at making watches that wears well on the wrist, and this Railmaster is no different. Size is just right, as is the height. this watch is balanced and solid and there’s no mistaking this for a vintage inspired piece on the wrist.
